What is included in the Free plan versus the Pro plan.
IOModel has a Free plan you start with and a Pro plan that adds the tooling for connecting the model to your editor, your pipeline, and the real system.
Free does not mean every feature
IOModel Studio is available on the Free plan, but not all of its features are free. Core editing, collaboration, diff, merge, and review are free; some in-Studio capabilities — running the Compiler and Validator, the AI Architect together with Ask and semantic search, and the AI compliance review — are part of the Pro plan. Plans apply to cloud organizations: a local project is never plan-gated, while a self-hosted deployment still applies the plan its organizations are on.

Studio itself is free, but only for core authoring, collaboration, and review. Pro features such as the Compiler, the Validator, and the AI capabilities are still gated when used inside Studio. The regulations surface carries no AI gate of its own: binding a standard to the model, the pins editor, and the regulation problems the Compiler reports are all reachable without an AI plan.
The AI capabilities run on your own provider key, so the plan and the key are two separate requirements: the plan unlocks the feature, and you still add an API key before Studio will answer. Saved AI conversations are not plan-gated, and neither is the ghost-text Tab autocomplete, which stays off unless the deployment enables it.
On the Free plan, each cloud project includes one active branch (typically main). Additional branches require the Pro plan.
Start on the Free plan with Studio to build and review the model collaboratively. Upgrade to the Pro plan when you want the model checked against your code and your running system automatically.
What the Pro plan unlocks
Author next to code
The IDE Extension brings preview, IntelliSense, and the compiler into VS Code and Cursor.
Keep the model consistent
The Compiler runs in the editor and CI to catch structural problems early.
Keep the model honest
The Collector builds a digital twin in CI and the Validator flags drift from the design — together,
