Compares the digital twin of the running system against the model to surface architectural drift.
The IOModel Validator compares the digital twin produced by the Collector against your architecture model, and reports where reality has drifted from the design. It is available in both Studio and the IDE Extension.
Part of IOModel Digital Twin
Validator is the compare half of IOModel Digital Twin. The Collector is the capture half.
What it checks
| Question | Validator result |
|---|---|
| Does every modeled service exist in the real system? | Missing or extra services |
| Do dependencies match? | Links present in one side but not the other |
| Has configuration drifted? | Differences between modeled and observed state |
Validator vs Compiler
The Validator answers “does the model match the real system?” (model vs digital twin). The Compiler answers “is the model internally consistent?” (model vs itself).
Where it runs
- Studio — review drift visually during design and review sessions.
- IDE Extension — see drift inline while authoring next to code.
- CI — gate merges when drift exceeds what your team allows.
Pro plan
The Validator is part of the IOModel Pro plan. See Plans for the full breakdown.
